Permission cannot be granted unless the researcher’s letter of request clearly identifies the work(s) and portions thereof, so please include item URL, call number, name of author, title, date, and relevant page or leaf number(s). The request should also identify the forthcoming printed work, electronic publication, or other media presentation in which the image(s) will appear. The Library requests a gratis copy of any print publication or the URL of any electronic media publication that includes image(s) from any University of Illinois item found in Emblematica Online and asks that all uses be acknowledged, “Courtesy of The Rare Book & Manuscript Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Emblematica Online Digital Collection.” The Library reserves the right to charge permission fees for some uses. Scholarly use from images included in Emblematica Online will normally be granted free of charge. All permissions for use granted by The Rare Book & Manuscript Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are non-exclusive and limited to a period of three years.
